Using IBANs

Following the accession of Cyprus to the European Union on May 1, 2004 and in accordance with E.U regulations, Cyprus implemented the International Bank Account Number (IBAN).

 

In order to ensure the efficiency of all transactions, the IBAN format has been provided to all clients of Hellenic Bank.


Using IBANs

To utilize the fully automated processing system of Hellenic Bank, it is mandatory for all incoming payments to include the IBAN and the SWIFT BIC. The structure of the IBAN code consists of 28 characters with the following format:

 

CYXX005YYYYYZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

 

where:
 

CY (2 digits) - COUNTRY CODE
XX (2 digits)- CHECK DIGITS
005- (3 digits)- HELLENIC BANK CODE
YYYYY (5 digits)- BRANCH NUMBER
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ (16 digits)- THE ACTUAL ACCOUNT NUMBER
