Who can apply for “My account 18-25”?

“My Account 18-25” is designed for young adults aged 18 to 25 years old.

What happens when I turn 26 years old?
When you turn 26 your account will remain active and normal account maintenance fees will start applying according to the Bank’s Commissions and Charges Table
How can I open a “My Account 18-25” account?
What documents are required to open a “My Account 18-25” account?

To open a “My Account 18-25” account, you must submit the following documents:

-Proof of identity (ID card or passport)

-Proof of Income

-Contact details

Existing customers must submit updated information.

Additional details and information may be requested regarding:

  1. The purpose and nature of your business relationship with the Bank
  2. Information about your economic/ transaction profile

Within the context of the due diligence framework, banks are obligated under the applicable regulatory legislation, to request the information above to be updated at regular intervals and maintain relevant copies.

Can I choose a different debit card (other than “Ocean Debit”) and link it to the “My Account 18-25”?
You can link any debit card to your account. Please note that in case you choose a different debit card, you will not have: zero account maintenance fees, as well as the benefits and fees related to the “Ocean Debit” card, which will be replaced by the benefits of the debit card you will choose. You may find the revised account maintenance fees here, and the relevant benefits linked the Bank’s debit cards here.
Are there any other charges that I need to be aware of?

There are no maintenance account charges, yet there is an annual subscription fee for the Ocean Debit card. In addition, you will be only charged for the use of services according to the Bank’s Table of Commissions and Charges, both of which can be found here.

Please note that the maintenance of the account is free, if you have an “Ocean Debit” card linked to the account. Selecting a different debit card will result in the relevant account maintenance fees being charged, as well as a different annual card subscription fee, depending on the selected debit card, both of which can be found here.

Will I be charged for ATM cash withdrawals?

Our “Ocean Debit” card has unlimited free ATM withdrawals in euros.

ATM withdrawals and payments in foreign currencies are free of charge, for up to specific amount per month (€250 and €300 per month respectively). Any additional transactions exceeding these amounts monthly, are charged according to the Bank’s Table of Commissions and Charges, which can be found here.
Can I add a beneficiary to my existing account?

No, “My Account 18-25” is only offered as a personal account to individuals.

Do I qualify for an overdraft?

Overdraft limits are only available to salaried individuals, with a maximum limit of €1.200, depending on your income.

Overdraft limit approvals are subject to a customer's creditworthiness and the provision of satisfactory securities, if deemed necessary by the Bank.

The offered interest rate, collateral and the terms of financing may differ based on criteria evaluated and applied by Hellenic Bank.

Hellenic Bank may, at its absolute discretion, reject any application in accordance with its lending policy and assessment criteria at any given time.

When can I request for an overdraft limit?
You can request an overdraft limit either during the opening of the account, or at any point thereafter, whenever such need arises. Overdraft limits are subject to eligibility criteria.
What documents are required when requesting an overdraft limit?

To evaluate your application, we will need the following:

Proof of identity (ID card or passport)

-Proof of Income

-Contact details

-Professional activity details

-Existing customers must submit updated info.

 

Additional details and information may be requested:

  1. The purpose and nature of your business relationship with the Bank
  2. Information about your economic/ transaction profile

Indicative supporting documents verifying your income will be requested:

Private sector/Public sector employees

  • Last three months payslips
  • Supporting documents for any other source of income (if applicable)

Self- employed

  • Income Tax form, or Social Insurance statement, or other supporting documents

Will my overdraft have a fixed or variable interest rate?

The product is offered at a variable interest rate linked to the Bank’s Main Base Rate, plus margin. This means that your monthly instalment and the total cost of your overdraft may increase or decrease depending on the changes in the base rate.

How is my overdraft’s base rate calculated?

Hellenic Bank’s base rates are based on the CBC Index. The Index is defined as the value of the interest rate applicable to the previous month’s euro-denominated deposits from households with agreed maturity up to 1 year, which is published on a monthly basis on the official CBC website. The average of the 3 last values of the CBC Index is considered the “Reference Rate”, rounded up to two decimal places.

The fluctuation of the Base Rates is calculated as the difference between the value of the last two Reference Rates. Each of Hellenic Bank’s base rates will be adjusted on a quarterly basis on 16 February, 16 May, 16 August and 16 November of each calendar year (the Adjustment Dates). For more info click here.
What is the overdraft’s interest rate?

The offered interest rate is determined based on criteria evaluated and applied by the Bank and may differ according to each case.

The “Μy Account 18-25” account offers a discounted interest rate compared to traditional personal overdraft. Specifically, if you choose to link an overdraft limit to your account, you will be offered a 1.00% lower interest rate compared to the one offered for unsecured personal overdrafts.

What are the required collaterals when applying for an overdraft limit?

Personal guarantees are required to secure overdrafts. The Bank may request additional securities/ collateral according to its credit policy and subject to criteria applied.

It is noted that the debit interest of the overdraft account varies depending on the creditworthiness of the customer, as assessed by the Bank.

WARNING: You run the risk of losing your immovable property if you do not pay your overdraft which is secured by mortgage on your immovable property.

WARNING: The instalment amount and the total cost of the overdraft may increase or decrease, depending on the fluctuation of the base rate.

Can I cancel my overdraft at any time?

In case your overdraft limit is not secured with mortgage, and you act outside your commercial, business or professional capacity, you have the right to withdraw from the overdraft agreement within fourteen (14) calendar days from the date of execution of the overdraft agreement, by giving or sending relevant written notice to the Bank.

In case your overdraft is secured with mortgage, or you are acting within your commercial, business or professional capacity, you have the right to withdraw from the loan agreement within five (5) business days from the date of execution of the overdraft agreement, by giving or sending relevant written notice to the Bank, unless any amount of such overdraft is used/disbursed before expiry of the abovementioned withdrawal period.

What is the Deposit Guarantee Protection Scheme and how does it work?

Hellenic Bank Public Company Ltd deposits are protected by the Deposit Guarantee and Resolution of Credit and Other Institutions Scheme (DGS).

Limit protection of EUR 100.000 per depositor per credit institution.
