Commenced his career in 2001 as Credit Officer in Alpha Bank (Cyprus) Ltd. In 2002, he joined Standard Chartered Bank in London as Senior FX Strategist until 2007, when he moved to Dubai as Head MENA Research, building the Middle East North Africa Research team, and then in 2010 as Head of Research West, being responsible for all research and analysts in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Europe and the Americas. In 2012, he became Chief Economist of Standard Chartered Bank, based in Dubai, being responsible for the “house view” on economics, financial markets and geopolitics. He was a senior managing director and a member of the bank’s Global Leadership team, working with the Board of Directors and the Chairman on group strategy. From 2015 to 2018, he was also a member of the Advisory Board of the German think tank Stern Stewart Institute.
Since 2018, he has been Chief Economic Advisor to Governance Creed in Dubai. The firm works with C-suite executives and boards of directors and it specialises in governance, strategy and risk.
He was elected Member of the Board of Directors of Hellenic Bank on 28 August 2019. Member of the Risk Management and Remuneration Committees of the Bank’s Board of Directors.
