Social contribution and our Group are inextricably linked. We firmly believe that businesses have a responsibility to give back to society.

Our contribution to society

Our humanitarian values dictate that we use our success to make a meaningful contribution to peoples’ lives. The Group is active in the fields of Education, the Environment, Culture, Research and Sport

We support vulnerable groups

Hellenic Bank supports the activities of organisations and groups whose aim is to help ease the suffering of vulnerable sections of the population.

We have been supporting the humanitarian institution of TELETHON for several years and have also served as its main sponsor, with our volunteer staff helping to raise substantial funds in support of the work of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics. This is an institution we believe in and we continue to organise events for this purpose.

Volunteering in general forms an integral part of our Organisation and our staff participates in blood drives, charity bazaars and other events.

We stand beside people with disabilities

Hellenic Bank has been awarded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance as the first Organisation to have employed people with disabilities. All our buildings are fully accessible to people with mobility issues.

We provide financial support to social organisations

Every year, our Group financially supports various institutions and organisations engaged in charitable work. The financial support of Hellenic Bank helps implement projects that improve the health and well-being of our fellow citizens.

The following organisations have benefited, amongst others, from our long-standing support:

The Cyprus Red Cross, UNICEF, the Anti-Cancer Society, Thermokoitida Agapis, social grocery stores and a substantial number of other associations, societies and NGOs that meet the stringent criteria we have set for this purpose.

Culture / Environment / Sport / Research

Over time, Hellenic Bank has been supporting in diverse ways pioneering museums, cultural productions, exhibitions, publications and events, theatre performances and specific arts, such as engraving.

At the same time, the Group acknowledges that our environment is under threat and that modern organisations have an obligation to help address the problem. In an attempt to mitigate its environmental footprint, the Group has drawn an Environmental Policy, with actions including amongst others the following:

  • Implementation of energy, water and paper saving systems
  • Creation of energy friendly branches
  • Certification of our Head Offices with the international environmental quality mark Green Key
  • Active participation in environmental and voluntary actions, such as Let’s Do It Cyprus  and tree-planting
  • Long-standing cooperation with Ecological Schools, aimed at raising environmental awareness amongst students.

SMILE against bullying

Hellenic Bank has currently focused its attention on the SMILE campaign and has developed, in joint cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Culture, the National Strategy against School Bullying. The aim of the campaign is to provide information, prevent and fight against school bullying.
