Can I register for online banking?

Of course, you can register by completing our online form here. It is simple and there is no need to visit a branch. All you will need is your Hellenic Bank Debit or Credit card number (Business cards are excluded), your National ID or Passport (for non-residents) and a register mobile phone number with Hellenic Bank.

What is the online banking registration process?

The registration for online banking is effortless and the whole process takes less than 5 minutes. You can register online by completing a simple form. During the process, we will ask you to enter your debit or credit card number (Business cards are excluded), and some personal and identification details.  To verify you, we will send you an SMS verification code to the mobile phone number you have registered with us. If successful, you will then set up a password which will be used when you log in. For your own safety, we will send you an additional SMS verification which you will need to enter in the form, followed by a final SMS containing your user name. Save the final SMS containing your user name as you will need it during login.

I just registered for online banking. Can I log in?

Once you have completed the online registration process you will need to call our Customers Contact Centre at 8000 9999 (or +357 22500500 if calling from abroad) using your registered phone number to activate your account. Following the activation, you will be able to log in using the password you have created and the user name we’ve sent you.

Do Ι have to be an existing customer of Hellenic Bank to register for online banking?

Yes. At the moment only existing customers can register. If you are not an existing customer of Hellenic Bank you can apply for an account online to become a customer first and then get a username and password to access your account online.

If you have already got online banking credentials, you cannot re-apply.

Do I need to have a registered phone number with you?

Yes, you do. In order for us to be able to send you a verification code during online banking registration, to receive your user name and to be able to log in, you are required to have a registered phone number with us.

Do I have access to all my accounts and cards?

Yes, once registered you will gain access to all your personal accounts and cards. This includes only accounts and cards under your name. If you would like to see additional accounts/cards, you may contact us at 8000 9999/ or +357 22500500 if calling from abroad.

What if I have not received a verification code via SMS and I cannot proceed with my application?

You can request to resend you the verification code in case you have not received an SMS, by clicking “Resend” at the bottom of the verification code page. Some tips to ensure that the verification process goes smoothly:

  1. Ensure that the phone you have selected is the same registered phone with Hellenic Bank
  2. Allow 1 minute before requesting to resend you the verification code
  3. Check your mobile device to have full network reception.

What can I do on Web Banking? Should I register?

With Web Banking, you can bring Hellenic Bank to you, wherever you are. Here are just a few of the features:

I forgot or locked my password, what should I do?

If you have forgotten or locked your password, you can reset it online by clicking  on the “Forgot my password “ which is located in the Web banking login screen. In order to that, you will need your user name, your ID or passport and access to an email address or a phone number registered with the bank. You can also use the SMS OTP or your digiPIN if you have one.  If you need any help just contact the Customer Contact Center at 8000 9999 or +35722500500 (from abroad) and they’ll be happy to assist you.

Can I setup alerts for my accounts?

Yes. Our alerts service sends you email or SMS notifications for your account balances, transactions and money movements between your accounts.You choose the limits you want.

Do I need to use an SMS OTP or digiPIN for transfers and payments?

Transactions to third parties  have to be authorised by using SMS OTP or a digiPIN device. Soon digiPIN devices will be discontinued and you will need to enable SMS OTP via web banking in order to be able to make transactions. When enabled, instead of using the digiPIN, Hellenic Bank will send an SMS OTP to your registered phone number and you will be prompted to enter this code onscreen before completing the transaction.
However, you won't need to use SMS OTP or digiPIN if you are transferring money between your own accounts or to a pre-approved payee.

Is Web Banking secure?

We make the protection of customers’ personal and sensitive data top priority, and our security is second to none. So, we use industry standard data encryption, protection of your account by a username and password (which we strongly recommend you don’t share with anyone), and automatic time-out when you don’t do anything for 10 minutes. If you forget your credentials or someone else enters them wrongly, the system will lock you out after three attempts (but you can contact us and go through security to get it sorted out).
If you’re ever worried that someone or something has gained access to your account fraudulently, call 8000 9999 (+357 22 500500 from abroad) right away and tell us about it.

Can I login from multiple devices?

No. For reasons of security, you can only log in from one place at once. However, because of automatic logout, if you’re downstairs trying to log in on your laptop and don’t want to go back upstairs to log out on your desktop, you’ll be logged out automatically upstairs by the time you’ve made (and perhaps drunk) a cup of tea.

Where can I find my information when I log in?

When you’ve logged in, go to the 'Balances' section. Everything you need starts here. 

How do I transfer money to another account?

You can transfer money between your own accounts, to any Hellenic Bank customer or to any other customer in Cyprus or overseas on the ‘Transfers/Payments’ page.

Why do I need to log off after I am finished using Web Banking?

It’s safer. You could rely on the 10-minute automatic logout, but it’s more secure if you get into the habit of logging out manually and closing your browser window. That way, nobody can access your account if you leave it logged in.

Is it possible to check my account information online without signing up for Web Banking?

No. Web Banking is a secure way to get to your information, and we want to make sure nobody else can see it. Το view your account information online, you have to register to use Web Banking.

Can I talk to someone online if I am signed in?

We don’t offer live chat at the moment. You can always contact the Customer Contact Center on 8000 9999 or +35722500500 (from abroad). You can also send us a personal message by visiting 'Messages' on the top right of your screen when you’re logged in. A Customer Contact Center person will see your message and get back to you.

I forgot my user name what should I do?

If you forget your username don’t worry – just contact the Customer Contact Center at 8000 9999 or +35722500500 (from abroad) and they’ll be happy to help.

How do i trust my browser or device?

Every 90 days we will ask you to confirm the browser or device you are logging in from as trusted, through the use of an OTP (One time passcode), either through an SMS or a Digipin device. This helps us know it’s you logging on and not someone else. This new regulation being introduced across all Cyprus Banks is designed to improve your security and reduce fraud and scams. If you haven’t setup your SMS OTP or have a Digipin device your will be required to go through a registration process before you log in.

Can I pay my bills via Web Banking?

Yes you can. You can pay a number of bills with your account and over 750 bills with your Hellenic debit or credit card via JCC Smart.

I have paid a bill with my debit/credit card, is the payment executed in real time?

No, payments are processed (accepted/rejected) by the organisation the next working day.

Can I view the status of bill payments I have paid through Web Banking?

Yes, you can. You need to navigate to Transfers and Payments, Maintenance and then to Transaction History. To view account related payment, use the “From account” option and to view card related payments use the “From card” option.
